Some time after the colonists came to "The New World," King George lll (of England) started putting taxes on everyday items. He claimed they were to pay for the French and Indian war. He put taxes on things like paper, stamps, sugar, molasses, and tea. 
         The taxes on tea especially enraged the colonists. They drank tea every day! This lead to the Boston Tea Party. Colonists threw tea off the boats to show the King of England that they did not like it.
         The unjust King would not allow the colonists to have any power over decisions that affected them. He made soldiers stay in their houses. The colonists didn't like this one bit, but what could they do about it? They insisted that they be part of the British Parliament, but King George lll refused. 
         King George lll wasn't about to let a new land slip through his fingers! Loyalists and Patriots quarreled about if the king was right or not.  The hatred between people was very strong. The enmity was unbelievable! Some patriots weren't even aloud to go and see loyalists. The Boston Massacre was because of a couple snowballs, and the British soldiers attacked. 5 men were killed because of this!
