The Declaration of Independence changed our lives, and gave us freedom! This document is truly amazing!
Many people signed the Declaration of Independence. In fact, at least on person came from each of the 13 colonies! The most likely reason to this is that all colonies should be free of King George's rule. Though, some colonies didn't agree with this at first. Some of these people who signed the declaration include Samuel Adams, John Hancock, and Benjamin Franklin. (There were many others.) They all signed it on July 4, 1776.
Thomas Jefferson originally wrote the Declaration of Independence. He was given this honor, and worked his hardest towards it. He finished on July 2, 1776. Though, the court had to change it or edit it in some ways. The actual declaration was done and signed 2 days later.
Many things were included in this document. "All men are equal, and deserve to live a life of freedom and happiness without oppression" is a direct quote from the Declaration and it's also the main idea. They included the king's faults and mistakes, and they also included a man's (person's) rights. To be able to live freely and happily!
